Our Small Business

Growing up in a small farming community in southern Michigan, most of my childhood role models had the ‘do it yourself’ philosophy, whether out of necessity or for financial reasons. Summers were spent working on the farm and the cold winters were spent preparing for the farming season, sewing and crafting. Many valuable life lessons were learned, and a lot of DIY skills were obtained along the way that unknowingly became part of my success as a small business owner.

After high school, I left my small community in pursuit of higher education and landed in a career as a physical therapist. My husband and I started our family and had three beautiful children in a suburban community. In 2008, our third daughter was born and diagnosed with Trisomy 21 or Down Syndrome at birth. My career focus quickly changed to meet the needs of our family.

Fast forward to 2013, 3*21 Simple Creations LLC on Etsy was established to allow me to work from home and focus on my daughter's needs regarding her education. Metalworking and jewelry fabrication quickly turned from a hobby to a business mainly within the wedding industry. With hard work and a constant thirst for knowledge, I have expanded my business to include use of lasers, sublimation and white toner printing, as well as my childhood hobbies of sewing, embroidery and more.

Our handmade creations are of simple minimalist design with emphasis on custom and personalized elements. We specialize in making wedding accessories, small business promotional items, home décor and gifts for a variety of occasions. Our products can be purchased online and in-store at:

Our Daughter

The name 3*21 Simple Creations has multiple personal meanings.

  • 3*21 represents 3 of the 21st chromosome, more commonly know as Trisomy 21 or Down Syndrome.
  • Simple represents simplicity of life which is a huge component of our daughter's enjoyment in life.
  • Creations represents the miracle development of her life despite atypical chromosomal development.

Down syndrome continues to be the most common chromosomal disorder. Each year, about 6,000 babies are born with Down syndrome, which is about 1 in every 700 babies born.
